Annual Research Showcase and Awards Presentation

The Annual Research Showcase highlights the accomplishments of the University of Kentucky's (UK's) faculty and students who conduct interdiscplinary research in environmental and sustainability science and policy.  We are currently accepting applications for poster presentations and welcome contributions in the following major areas: Environmental Science, Environmental Health, Economic and Social Policy, and Manufacturing and Materials Science.  Awards will be presented for top student posters.

To submit an abstract, please complete the Poster Application Form (link to poster submission form).  Deadline for abstract submission is October 17, 2011.

As part of the showcase, the university recognizes leaders in sustainable practices by presenting Global, Corporate, and Community Service awards.  We are accepting nominations for the corporate and service awards through October 1, 2011.  If you would like to submit a nomination, please see (Add link here).  The 2011 Awardees will be announced in October. 

UK Environmental Seminar Series - Part 1: Water

The UK Environmental Seminar Series features nationally recognized scholars who will address major global challenges surrounding sustainability and the environment, such as the global water crisis, global climate change, food security, and emerging contaminants as well as challenges surrounding the implementation of sustainable practices in government and industry.

Please join us for Part I of the series:

New Thinking for Water in the 21st Century

presented by Dr. Peter Gleick (link to bio), co-founder and President of the Pacific Institute

Dr. Gleick is an internationally recognized water expert and MacArthur Fellow.  Dr. Gleick's research and writing address the critical connections between water and human health, the hydrologic impacts of climate change, sustainable water use, privatization and globalization and international conflicts over water resources. 

Dr. Gleick's lecture will begin immediately following the UK Environmental Awards presentation and is free and open to the public.
