41st Annual Awards Presentation and Green Breakfast

The 41st Lexington-Fayette Environmental Commission Awards were presented during the Kentucky Proud Green Breakfast on October 19.  The event was co-sponsored by the University of  Kentucky College of Agriculture’s Environmental and Natural Resources Initiative (ENRI) and the Tracy Farmer Institute for Sustainability and the Environment (TFISE).

The Environmental Commission, created in 1969, is composed of a group of up to forty citizens of Fayette County from different council districts appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Council for four-year terms.  The commission seeks to maintain and enhance the distinctive, picturesque environment of Lexington and Fayette County.  It advises and works with the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council, the Planning Commission, the Board of Adjustment, Building Inspection, Code Enforcement, Department of Environmental Quality and all other appropriate bodies and officials.
