Reading the Land: Does Your Soil Hold the Secrets to Urban Forest Performance by Dr. Susan Day

Dr. Day is dedicated to improving urban tree health. She is an Associate Professor of urban horticulture in the Department of Horticulture at Virginia Tech, and is especially interested in how root/soil interactions affect the contribution of trees to urban ecosystems. Don't miss this event which includes a reception at 6 PM followed by her lecture from 7:00-8:00 PM. This is event is open to the public. (More Info).

Interactions Between Science and Society

A panel of experts that cut across themes and disciplinary areas will lead discussion on the challenges and solutions involved in developing and implementing new technologies to increase the sustainability of food, energy, water and transport systems.  Luncheon at 12 PM, Panel starts at 1 PM.
